Computers different? Our approach to the computer support business. Because
our service is subscription based we have the same business goal you do, get
your systems up and running as quickly as possible if something goes wrong; and
keep them up and running, ensuring nothing preventable goes wrong so that we
don’t have to provide emergency care. We want what you want; your business
running properly with a functional computing infrastructure making or saving you
money.
Our competition charges by
the hour. If they send you an under qualified tech you pay for their learning
curve. If an under qualified tech takes three hours to fix your email problem
you pay for those three hours. What if a more qualified tech could fix your
email problem in an hour? Will that tech still take three hours? Will they bill
you for a four hour minimum? Are you paying for a trip charge, even though they
could have fixed the problem remotely? You won’t know whether they could have
fixed things for less, or if something broke because of the inexperience of
their tech, or for some other reason because computer support isn’t your
business.
The financial position of
your support company should not be better the longer it takes to fix your
problem. In fact most of the time hourly rates are set up to ensure that you pay
for more time than it actually takes to fix your issue. With computer systems
there is a lot of waiting time. Machines need to reboot, updates need to
download, and applications take time to install. However, for most of these
things there is no work being done by the tech. However, if the tech is on-site
you are paying to have them sit there and wait for all these things to happen. A
typical support issue can actually take five minutes of actual work and thirty
minutes of waiting time while things download and install, or update. You pay
for an hour, or if you are lucky forty-five minutes, plus either drive time, or
a trip charge. We Manage Computers does not work that way, you pay us a flat
amount each month for each computer or network device we are responsible for and
that’s that.

environment. It actually takes less time to set things up the right way than it
does to fix things when they break. Traditional computer support firms aren’t
